Esta Chocolates is a small family business, founded in 2006 in Waterloo, ON. Co-founders Abe & Ebru Hacioglu are hardly new to the chocolate business, however. Abe is a third generation member of a family that has been in the chocolate industry since 1953.
Abe grew up "surrounded by chocolate". At 7, he was sweeping the floors and preparing boxes in his uncle's chocolate factory in Istanbul, Turkey. By the time he was an adult, he was working in the family truffle business full-time & rose to become the Chief Executive Officer, running two candy factories.
While their love of the chocolate industry is obvious, both Abe and Ebru share a passion for excellence. Abe emphatically states "To make good truffles, we use the finest ingredients & state of the art equipment. With over 30 years experience, our passion and our inspiration to make a truly world-class truffles at reasonable prices has all come together to produce our amazing truffles. Our goal is to make the richest truffles at the best possible prices for the North American market without compromise. We keep the same level of standards for service and reliability"
Ebru is certainly not lacking passion when she talks about her role in the family truffle business either. She smiles and says "Our truffles are carefully produced to create a smooth outer layer of the finest chocolate. The inside is filled with a mouth-watering molten layer of divine caramel, hazelnut, raspberry, orange or maple. They are luscious enough to win you over with just one bite! We work night and day to produce some of the world's very best chocolate truffles."
